Case Study - Hotwell Tanks
Client: Science and Business Park
Project Brief: The Internal Refurbishment of 1 No. Steel Hotwell Tank
System Specification: Heat Resistant Solvent Free Coating
Completion Date: 17th August 2007
COVAC Contract Ref: 620
1No. Welded mild steel hotwell tank sized at approximately 2.4m x 1.2m x 1.5m.
The tank was installed approximately two years ago. No internal protective coating that was applied was capable of withstanding hot temperatures experienced in hotwell tanks of this nature. We therefore, propose the following scope of works:
The internal surfaces of the tank having been drained of water but prior to any preparation works being carried out. As the photographs demonstrate, the tank shows signs of progressive surface corrosion.
These photographs show the internal surfaces, having been prepared by COVAC Operatives using dry Abrasive Grit Blast Equipment in accordance with the accepted Standard.
The substrate of the tank having received its 1st coat full coat of Heat Resistant Solvent Free Coating, by means of brush and roller.
Finally, the substrates are fully coated with Heat Resistant Solvent Free Coating, by means of brush and roller.
