UK Schools at risk

Posted on January 6, 2011

Many schools and colleges in the UK are potentially providing poor quality drinking and potable water, not only risking the health of children and staff from bacteria such as Legionella Pneumophila which leads to Legionnaires disease but also subsequent prosecution under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 as well as under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1988.

This picture shows the condition of a UK primary school’s water tank before and after repair and relining by COVAC using 3M Scotchkote 165PW Solvent Free Polyurethane.

Adrian Emmett of COVAC said “This tank is obviously an extreme case; however, it was repaired and relined by our own skilled operatives with a ten year guarantee for the product and labour given to the client, which they were delighted with, as this option proved much more economical than having to install a new tank”.
