GRP Tank - Case Study

We were contacted following a GRP water tank leaking and requiring a comprehensive refurbishment to restore integrity and extend its serviceable life at a West Midlands Hospital. Rather than opt for an expensive tank replacement, the Trust chose a long-term, guaranteed solution that would bring the tank back to a compliant and watertight standard with minimal disruption.

The COVAC team attended the site to carry out a full refurbishment of the tank. All the joints were repaired and re-sealed to address the source of the leak. Internal GRP surfaces and all corroded steel bolts were prepared and encapsulated using WRAS and DWI approved Acothane DW solvent free polyurethane, ensuring full compliance for potable water contact. All external surfaces were treated and brought up to a new insulation standard.

A ten year guarantee was issued to the client upon completion of the works.
