What is GRP Lining?

20 Years In Business

GRP Lining (also known as glass-reinforced plastic lining or fibreglass lining) amalgamates the robustness of glass with the endurance and pliability of plastic. It is created by forming a mat of glass strands and subsequently enveloping it with a polymer. The outcome is a 2-3mm thick fibreglass sheet which is flexible, lightweight, durable and waterproof. The lining can also be applied to new-builds as well as refurbished structures and is ideal for covering surfaces such as; concrete, brick, metals, wood and already existing fibreglass.

Fibreglass lining is vital in plastic tanks as without full protection, the material can become cracked and air-filled cavities can be present which leaves conditions for bacteria to multiply. Our exceptional GRP tank lining service can prevent this from happening by utilising our ACOTHANE DW coating system.

ACOTHANE DW coating provides protection from chemical attacks and resist the growth of bacteria such as micro aquatic organisms and black spore fungi. Alongside resistance and protection, our polyurethane coating will be much easier to clean and maintain, so you can witness long-life performance with very little maintenance.

What are the benefits of fibreglass linings?

  • Low maintenance - Fibreglass linings require minimal upkeep, typically requiring a through clean once in a while.
  • Easy to repair - While damage is infrequent, repairing a GRP lining is usually a straightforward and hassle-free process.
  • Corrosion and chemical resistant - fibreglass linings exhibit resistance to corrosion and many chemicals and can also withstand UV degradation.
  • Impact resistant - GRP offers a high level of impact resistance. Manufacturers can tailor the product's strength and flexibility to meet particular specifications by adjusting the glass-to-plastic ratio.
  • Long lifespan - Our fibreglass linings come with a 25-year warranty, and their longevity often exceeds this timeframe.
